On the Icefield | Lomo LC-A
I had wanted this camera for ages and then Troy got me one for Christmas, straight from Russia. I started using it and then got underwhelmed. I don’t know how this camera could be the flagship of Lomography whose motto is “Don’t think, just shoot!” as I find the LC-A to be kind of fiddly. But maybe it’s just me.
Turquoise | Holga 120N
This was from our trip the Canadian Rockies four years ago. The Holga didn’t make the shortlist of cameras to bring to our trip to Newfoundland in June this year. In fact, my toy cameras have been seeing very little action lately. I guess I prefer cameras with a sharper lens these days.
Fluffy Clouds | Olympus XA1
Here’s another camera that I should use more often, but instead, it’s just sitting on a shelf collecting dust, just waiting for me to pick it up again. Soon, little camera, soon. I have two Olympus XAs. I think the other one is an XA2 and it may have some issues, but I’m not 100% sure.
Happy Accident | Canon AE-1 Program
I don’t know what I thought I was doing when I opened the film back after I shot this picture even though I was still in mid-roll. I must say I quite like the result it produced. It wouldn’t have been as colourful otherwise, what with all the mists and all.
End | Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash
I have many favourite shots taken with the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye and it’s all thanks to the Brownie Hawkeye Flash group on Flickr that kept challenging and encouraging its members to break the limitations of this point-and-shoot box camera and create wonderful images with it.
On Books | Yashica 35MF
This remains one of my favourite self-portraits to date. It was also taken on a 22 years old film and developed in coffee. I should use the Yashica 35MF more often but there are always other cameras I’d rather use. Such is the problem with owning too many cameras.
Church Tower | Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim
I picked up an all-plastic camera with 22mm wide-angle plastic lens called the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim from a thrift store for the first time 6 years ago. Little did I know that a couple of years later these cameras would become a much sought-after item, even worth a reproduction!
(I have several of these cameras for sale. They’re the original version, not the reproductions. If you don’t see one in the store, please feel free to ask. I likely still have some but just haven’t listed them yet.)
